Tricks to Getting Your Lawn Green Again

revive dead grass

A lush, green lawn can make or break your entire yard. You might have well-manicured bushes, stunning flowers and towering trees, but if your lawn is yellow or brown, your other landscaping efforts might be in vain. Sometimes even if you think you’re doing everything to produce a green lawn, you still notice dead grass spoiling what is otherwise a stunning yard. Repairing this unsightly eyesore quickly and effectively is a must. Fortunately, there are some simple ways you can remedy this issue and getting your grass looking the way you want.

Get Rid of the Dead Stuff

It may sound too easy and logical, but simply removing the dead spots is your first step. It’s most effective to clear a space a little larger than the affected area itself. Then turn over the dirt and remove any rocks, roots, twigs or other nuisances. Add some compost and then rake the spot smoothly.

Try Some Seed

Grass seed can easily replace your dead grass. As if you were starting from scratch, spread some grass seed in the affected area you just removed and sprinkle the appropriate amount of seed on the ground you just prepared.

Patches of Sod Work Too

If you prefer, and if you’re itching to fix the problem even faster, you can lay down some sod over the area where the yellowish-brown grass once was. Just make sure the piece of sod you put down is level with the rest of the grass.

Plenty of Water is Essential

Makes sense, right? Unless you want the new sod to turn into dead grass or for the seeds to fail, water even more frequently than you normally would. If you use seeds, however, make sure to be gentle and not use a powerful sprayer or sprinkler.
